If all your other markers are normal but your creatinine was a bit high on one test, it’s likely a fluke. When someone has ckd, they usually have other high markers such as potassium and bun and other things. I used to be a bodybuilder who ate a high protein diet and always had high bun with no other elevated markers but once I stopped and ate normal amounts of protein my bun dropped dramatically. ![]() Creatinine can also be artificially high due to heavy exercise, or increased muscle mass more than your average person your age. Creatinine however can continue to be in the system because its muscle waste product due to everyday activity. So maybe your bun was low due to no food or meat before the test. ![]() A diet high in protein or even just eating red meat or something before a test can raise bun bc dietary protein increases urea nitrogen in your system as a byproduct of the protein itself. Especially if you are little to no meat before the test your bun may appear normal. Dehydration can heavily effect creatinine without bun being affected.
